we arrived in heidelberg safe and sound. landed in frankfurt, got in our rented fiat marea(weekend edition) station wagon and drove about 45 minutes south to the beautiful neckar valley city. first thing we did was get some lunch and brews at the vetter brauhaus. excellent beer, though a little too much carbonation for my taste (i’m used to english-style ales). of course, i drank it anyway. aside from the beer, highlights included the ambience of the place…hops hanging from the ceiling, copper brew kettles and, most of all, the beautiful german birds. (hot blond sitting behind peter was not shy about bending over to display her valentine-red thong underwear). going back tomorrow to test the vetter 33, which the menu describes as, “one of the strongest beers in the worl”. great weather today but forecast looks gloomy.
