January 2008

We arrived back from Australia and have been settling back into a routine – as much as you can when we have all been sick. This month we have had Leo with a Staph infection (horrible sores on his body), Leo & Sofia both had conjunctivitis and colds, and Eleni has had a cold as well. I had 10 days of flu and conjunctivitis and get this, Christos got NOTHING!

What is it like with twins and a three year old? Well our days are pretty much like this:

6.30am – Sofia wakes up crying as she is all stuffed up.

7.00am – Leo now up too and wanting his milk so Carolyn goes and gets 3 milks (Eleni still loves her milk). Get the kids nappies changed and Eleni dressed for school. She likes to wear braids so this takes a bit of time.

8.00am – Daddy and Eleni head off. Christos drops her at pre-school on his way to work.

9.00am – Feed the hungry twins. They just love to eat. They get a really huge bowl of cereal with pureed fruit – and I mean huge!

10.00am – Nap time for the twins. This is when I get housework, emails etc done.

12 noon – Twins up and have a bottle.

13.00 – Time for lunch. This time it is vegies and fruit.

15.30 – Time for another nap!

16.30 – Get the kids up and go pick up Eleni from school.

17.00 – Bottles for the babies. Snacks for Eleni.

18.00 – Dinner for the babies and then bathtime.

19.00 – Babies to bed!

20.00 – We eat dinner then Eleni has her bath and goes to bed.

22.00 – Carolyn normally crashed out in bed.

…… some time later in the night – Christos goes to bed!

Of course, we have had to fit in doctors appointments etc as well and Eleni has just started dance classes at Wilson School of Dance. She wears a leotard and tights and they actually are learning some ballet terms and moves. It is very funny to watch especially as they have one section where they all put on tutus!

Of course 31 January was Eleni’s 3rd birthday which was pretty low-key as we were all sick! We bought her some play-dough and a train set. I never realized how much play-dough can get into everything! She also got some nice gifts from her grandparents so has had lots of fun playing with those.

Sofia now has 2 teeth – Leo has none! They have both been up at night as they have been so miserable with their colds – stuffy noses and horrible coughs. We have pretty much stayed at home most of January but last weekend we went to Harrisonburg (about 45 mins) and stopped in to look at Massanutten ski resort – one day we might make it up there and actually do some skiing!
