Thanksgiving

Christos cooked a huge turkey for Thanksgiving this year as well as spanakopita (spinach and feta wrapped in filo pastry) which is obviously Greek not American. It was all very yummy and we finished off the leftovers tonight and topped it off with Sticky Toffee Pudding.

Apparently the other traditional food at American Thanksgiving dinners is Pumpkin Pie – although I think they eat it as a dessert rather than a main. Think I will have to introduce Christos to pumpkin scones.

Did you Know?

Did you know that Australia will have a population of 20 million on Thursday 4th December. Apparently there are about 4000 babies due to be born around that time in the lucky country.

Work

Well I am now in employment after nearly a year off from the corporate world. I have a job for a company called Pitney-Bowes . They are an office automation company headquartered in the USA (they make things like franking machines and machines that stuff letters into envelopes). I am working at the UK office which is in Harlow (near to Stansted Airport and about 1 1/2hr hike from home down the M11 motorway. The travelling is taking a bit of getting used to – as is the getting out of bed at 6.30am. Anyway, I am working on a Human Resources project which involves outsourcing payroll, putting in a new information system (SAP HR), restructuring Human Resources and re-engineering processes and policies across Europe and the UK. I may get to travel out to France and Germany as part of the project but am really hoping for a trip to the US as the office is in Connecticut (the New England part of the US).
